The Northport Arts Coalition, a not-for-profit arts organization, is interested in saving the Northport Theater and creating a community arts center. Northport, a community rich in talent, would only benefit from having a showcase and enhancing the opportunity for arts as an additional attraction.

We realize this is a huge undertaking and would have to become a community project. Many individuals and organizations can benefit from this venture. In our plan the stage would be restored to a vaudeville stage to accommodate artistic diversity. This venue can provide our community with a village playhouse, instrumental and vocal concerts, theater, dance, lectures, fashion shows and a continual art gallery featuring our local talent. Our local Art Center would provide a setting in the community and at our door step. This would also be a benefit for our local merchants.

Because this building is symbolic with the history of Northport, we do not feel that the community can possibly afford to lose yet another historical memory and still maintain the quaint village feeling that attracts us all.
