November 2006

On SUNDAY OCTOBER 22, NEWSDAY, RECOGNIZED NAC as one of the “liveliest” of
Long Island art alliances which “harnesses the varied talents of that community to form “a vibrant hub for the arts and humanities.”  Lauren Paige, our executive director, was interviewed by a Newsday reporter about our attendance at an educational forum last summer designed to help member organizations gain access to the media.   NAC has joined the Long Island Arts Alliance.   In connection with that, Pat Bond recently attended a workshop in New Hyde Park in which RogerTilles, New York State Regent: Past Chair, LIAA Advisory Board conducted a forum to encourage communities to collaborate with schools to promote the importance of art in education and in our lives.  We are planning several projects in this area, and hope to grow even more.  Your membership has allowed this to happen.

The Northport Arts Coalition executive board officially resumed office on October 11th, 2006 at the General Board meeting held in the Northport Library. The executive board is very excited about working together and bringing wonderful artistic programs and events into the community for all to enjoy. We are working on outreach to the schools as well. We look forward to enriching our community and bringing the community together through the arts.

Executive Director, Lauren Paige
