SUNDAYS IN THE PARK

Happenings on Main Street 2006 started on Friday, May 26 and continues every Friday until September 2, 2006. The performances are from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the entrance to Northport
Park in the new courtyard. Annie Mark opened the season for us this year. We will have a variety of
styles from jazz to folk rock and children's music. Artistic poster designed by Doris Rowe are posted around town for more details. We will have open Mike night on Friday, June 2, 2006, hosted by Sandy and Steve Edward's. We had such a tremendous turn out last year that we will be starting at 6:30 for sign ups this year. All concerts are free and weather permitting. On June 23, Tom and Martha Trachtenberg will be playing for the Northport "Happenings" series, from 7-8:30

POETS IN PORT
Kate Dellis Stover organizes poetry readings at Caffe Portofino on the fourth Friday of each month. This month it’s June 23 in Northport at 7:30pm. Feel free to come on over and check them out. Portofino is opposite the Post Office on Main Street in Northport.
VILLAGE HALL ART SERIES
NAC”s newest show features painting and drawings of things and people we enjoy in this favored time of the year. Is it your boat or a child? Perhaps an abstract thought of the essence of summer would be your choice. The opening reception is Sunday, June 25, 3-5 p.m. For entry guidelines,

NAC BOARD ACTIVITIES
The Huntington Youth Fest will be held on Saturday, June 3rd between 2pm and 6pm. It is sponsored by Huntington Town Youth Council for high school students within the Town of Huntington. Last year 500 young adults attended the event which featured 17 local bands, various community groups, and local vendors. This second annual Youth Fest on Saturday, June 3rd will again unite and galvanize the young population of Huntington through art, music and community service. Thank you to ...CPA George R.Rhen in Setauket, for taking the time out to meet with the NAC Board, giving advice and consultation to help our nonprofit organization move forward.
NAC WEDNESDAYS
June 14: "Rhythmic Intersections" - Aaron Paige, who has studied percussion in Egypt, Ghana, Morocco and Turkey, will present a cross-cultural exploration of drumming and language. Mr. Page's performance will include South Indian folk and classical drumming, the Egyptian tambourine and the Ghanaian xylophone.

Constant Wonder, the performing children's duo, will be performing both near and far this month...On Saturday, June 3rd, they are performing a FREE show (followed by a FREE barbecue!) in the Garden of Blessings at St. John's Church on the corner of Main and Prospect Streets in Huntington village. ALL ARE WELCOME! On Sunday, June 18th, they will be taking their show on the road to the CLEARWATER FESTIVAL in Poughkeepsie. You can catch them on the Family Stage at 2:10pm. On Friday, June 16th , they roll into Northport Village Park to perform for Happenings on Main Street from 7-8:30pm

Huntington Cabaret will donate a performance of their original musical revue, "No Day But Today," featuring 17 extraordinary singers ages 10-18 from Long Island, as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County on June 9, 2006 . The show was produced by Linda Ray and directed by award-winning New York City director Lennie Watts with noted New York City musical director Steven Ray Watkins There will be guest performances by Lennie Watts and Steven Ray Watkins as a gift to Habitat. In addition to the show, there will be a Chinese auction with items generously donated by local merchants, including restaurant gift certificates, New York City museum passes, New York City and local theatre tickets, a Southampton spa treatment, wine from a North Fork winery, a dinner party by a private chef and pianist, among many others. The fundraiser will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington at 7:30. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds will go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County.. The TOWNSHIP THEATRE GROUP (TTG), Long Island’s longest continuously operating theatre, concludes its 53rd season with the Neil Simon comedy, Last of the Red Hot Lovers Performances will be at the Laurel Avenue School Theatre, 158 Laurel Avenue, Northport on June 2, 3, 4, 9 & 10, 2006. VISUAL ARTS
Doris Rowe had three pieces accepted into the Waste Not, Want Not exhibition an open call from the Long Island Crafts Guild and the Art League of Long Island. You can visit the galleries March 31- June 25. The gala reception for the artists is June 4th, Sunday 3-5 PM. The ALLI Barn is on Deer Park Road near the Northern State. Doris also completed a set of 12 posters that represent the 54 artists included in the show. Currently, they are on exhibit at the Cinema Arts Center in collaboration within the content theme of society's proclivity for throwing away the products for newer products.
