NAC SPONSORED EVENTS

NAC 2nd Wednesdays

The  Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Northport Public Library, continues its December tradition of presenting a Bare Bones Theater Company Showcase.   The Company, directed by Jeff Bennett, is an outgrowth of acting classes taught by Jeff, originally as an adult education series and now at the Posey School in downtown Northport.  Many theater goers will remember that the opening production of the newly renovated Northport Theater was "Brooklyn Boy", a Bare Bones Production, again directed by Mr. Bennett, which received critical acclaim and opened the season with some sold-out performances.

This year the NAC 2nd Wednesday Showcase may include Scenes & Monologues from distinguished playwrights such as:  Edward Albee, Moliere, Shakespeare, and Steven King.  The evening will close  with some "Theater & Improv Games,"  where the audience gets a chance to have some fun and try out some of their 'acting skills'

NAC Board Update

The Northport Arts Coalition Executive Board has been busy behind the scenes. Executive Director Lauren Paige and Director Pat Bond attended N. Y. S. Arts Alliance Gala a few weeks ago, "honoring philanthropies in the arts," in New York City. We made some wonderful contacts with other nonprofit arts organizations; Al Burr, the Director of the N.Y.S, Council ofr the Arts, Director Lynne Lobell, Community Fundraiser, for Queens Council of the Arts, and Phoebe Jacobs of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.

The NAC Board is also working on some exciting new events; a Membership Gala in the spring of 07, a Wet Paint event on Main Street in Northport for the fall of 07, and bringing cultural entertainment to NAC Wednesday at the Northport Library in January, featuring Chinese Dance.  NAC Executive Board and Advisory Board thanks you for your membership support without it we could not bring such wonderful NAC events to our art community
