Do-Ing Music Lands the TransAtlantic Ensemble for Oct. 21st!!

Don't miss this exciting program featuring pianist Evelyn Ulex, back by popular demand along with Hrabba Atladottir, violin and Mariam Adam, clarinet.  These three world trotting musicians were able to briefly come together to treat us with this special appearance that is not to be missed.  Included on the program will be Piazzola, Khachaturan and Milhaud, among others.  Meet the artists reception following.  Program begins 7:30 at the Northport Library.  Stop at the Northport Library for free tickets.

 

Glenn Baldwin and Friends of Jazz will perform the last of the Happenings on Main Street summer series when they play in Northport Park on Friday, Sept. 2 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Guest artists include Northporter Chip Smith on piano and Linda Catania, vocals. Sept 3 finds Glenn on piano and Craig Becker on bass at Huntington's Classy Coffee from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. Also scheduled is a free jazz concert by the
entire band at Sachem Public Library on Sunday, Sept 11, from 2:00 to 3:30. 

ART-IN-THE-PARK which took  place on August 21st...was a great success!.

NAC member Thea Lanzisero’s environmental installations for all three Art-in-the-Park events were enjoyed by many children.  Pictures of Thea’s work can be seen on   www.thealanzisero.com  

 

  NAC Cooks!


The Northport Arts Coalition, with a generous grant from Stop and Shop, is forming a committee to publish its very own ARTIST'S COOKBOOK. Members are invited to take part in this fun project. The NAC Cookbook is expected to be published in Summer, 2006. For information and to send your ideas, contact Kate Kelly at   friekey20@optonline.net 
We are looking for a person who would like to act as editor/coordinator.  This entails receiving and categorizing recipes as well as profiling the contributors - i.e. brief statement and photo of their art.  This can be a very creative endeavor!  We look forward to hearing your suggestions and an indication of your interest in being part of this project!

If you haven't attended any of NAC's Opera Night at the Cafe...you are missing out on something wonderful!

Denise Romas (www.ahealingangel.com), along with Ira Perlman and Bill Welch, will be performing in "Lonesome Traveler", a musical narrative about Lee Hays and the Weavers. Come and enjoy "Union Maid", "Goodnight Irene", "If I Had a Hammer" and other folk gems.

NAC member Kate Kelly has a new position as the Director/Curator of the Art

League of Long Island's Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery.  Artists are invited to send

 Kate will be showing her own work at the Alfred Van Loen Gallery,  South

THEATER

Dennis Tannenbaum and the Northport Arts Coalition hosted a coffee reception for Legislator Jon Cooper on Wednesday morning, August 31st at 9:00 am at the Northport Theater. Mr. Cooper was given a tour of the beautiful theater which was built in 1932. Invited guests included Northport Trustee, Ed Perlin and former Northport Trustee, Ann Stevens. Representatives from the local art community included Robert Krueger, founder of the Northport Community Band, Walter Thomas of the Northport Chorale, Jeff Bennett, director of Bare Bones Theater Company, Sally Shorrock, director of Do-ing Music and Cante Libre Chamber Music series.

The Northport Arts Coalition Board of Directors is pleased to announce its newest board member, Lauren Paige.

 

Lauren has been an active member of the Northport Arts Coalition, and has participated in numerous events including the Northport Village Hall art show, and the Summer Art, Music and Poetry in the Park/2005. She has also worked hard in the securing donation funding from Stop and Shop.
