The Northport Arts Coalition is presenting its June Newsletter, announcing our events for the month, as well as members’ announcements. Lots of highlights going on this month.  .

On Wednesday, June 8th, Doris Rowe will present a slide show featuring all 104 pages from the new NAC Magazine (4 pages/26 issues) at the Northport Library, 7:30 pm

On June 19th, we will presenting the first of our "Art, Music and Poetry in the Park," an event not to be missed

Opera Night at the Cafe Portofino (249 Main) takes place Friday, June 3rd at 8:00 P.M

Amy Tuttle announces as of Wednesday, May 18th the Long Island Music Hall of Fame has been approved as a museum (provisional status, with all the rights and privileges of any other museum) by the Board of Regents, and has been granted a not-for-profit corporation certificate by the Department of Education. This makes LIMHoF one of six independent incorporated non-profit museums in the country.  For further information contact Amy at  amyt@limusichalloffame.org

The Northport Chorale will be performing at 8:30 PM on Friday, June 17th at Northport Park to kick off Northport's "Summer Concert-in-the-Park" series. All are welcome. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Join Constant Wonder for some FREE children's concerts in June. On June 5th at 11:15am, we will perform at HarborFest in Port Washington as part of a day-long ecofestival.

On June 19th at 12 noon, join us at the entrance to Northport Park as we participate in NAC's "Art, Music and Poetry in the Park" series. On June 24th from 7-8:30pm, we'll be back at the entrance to Northport Park performing for Northport Chamber's "Happenings on Main Street" series. Hope to see you there! POETRY

 

Sunday, June 19th, 2:00-4:00  Poetry in Northport Park. Part of an all-day celebration of Art/Music/Poetry.

The fun starts from noon- 5:00 P.M., and poetry starts at 2:00, featuring David Axelrod, Kate Kelly and Alan Semerdjian, with Tommy Karcher on musical backup. David’s family will join in the open mike. Hosted by Barbara Reiher-Meyers.

Directions to Northport Harbor Park : North on Elwood Road to 25A. Cross 25A (Road changes name to "Reservoir") At stop sign bear left onto Church Street. Take Church to Main Street. Make left at light onto Main. Take Main Street to end (water). Park will be on your right. Parking On the street (no meter fee on Sunday) and additional off-street lots.

John Ellsworth, fine-art photographer, will be participating in the   Greater Westhampton Beach Juried Spring Arts and Crafts Fair, Village Green at Mill Road and Main Street, June 4 and 5. He will also be in  the Art in the Park show sponsored by the Art League of Long Island  at Hecksher Park, Huntington, on June 18 and 19. Greg Lyon, photographer, developed a new website, www.greglyonphotography.com (in additional to www.joedigitalphoto.com) just for the photography side of his business. As a photographer, he specializes in weddings, events and gold outings, and digital photography instruction.  His next “Introduction to Digital Photography” lecture will be at the Patchogue-Medford library on Thursday, June 23rd from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.  People sign up by contacting the library.  Also, some of his pictures will be exhibited at the West Islip Library during the entire month of June.

The possibility of phasing out the Village Hall Gallery Space is being discussed. Should our energies be put into developing alternative community space?
