SENATOR FLANAGAN HONORS LOCAL "WOMEN OF DISTINCTION" AT 8TH ANNUAL SENATE PROGRAM - Congratulations to  Kate Kelly  published poet and visual artist. On June 14th ,Senator Flanagan said she “ is an enterprising force  in  the  arts  community  of  Long Island.  Instrumental in bringing artists together." Kate is one of the founders of the Northport Arts Coalition.

 

 

MUSIC

The Northport Community Band, under the direction of Founder and Musical Director Robert W. Krueger and Associate Director Donald M. Sherman invites residents to join them on the Northport Village Green for the second concert of their 47th season on Thursday evening July 7th.

The Long Island Choral Festival and Institute, produced by Long Island Masterworks, Inc.,  will be presenting their Women's Festival Chorus at Adelphi University's Olmsted Theatre in Garden City, on Thursday,  July 14th at 4:00 PM. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. The concert, titled "Women in Love",  will have the Women's Festival Chorus performing under the direction of Doreen Rao,  the Elmer Iseler Chair in Conducting and Director of Choral Programs  at Toronto University. NAC SHE GROOVES columnist Theresa Orlando is open to receiving music submissions from NAC members for inclusion consideration for Theresa's college radio show "SHE GROOVES". Beginning Wed. JULY 6th, SHE GROOVES will  be broadcast weekly on WCVF-FM (88.9 FM), in Fredonia NY. VISUAL ARTS

  

               This month's painting is called Let's Dance and was painted at the actual event. It was a black tie affair which is a challenge because I never use black in my paintings. Elizabeth Yaari had an artists reception of 32 originals and prints at Great Neck Arts Center, 113 Middle Neck Road Great Neck, New York 11021 Tel: 516-829-2570   Sunday 26th June 4pm - 6pm.

 

 

 Jo-Ann Corretti, Award Winning Artist, will be displaying her Latest   Original Painting of Fire Island Light at the Fire Island Lighthouse Annual Art Show.   There is a Reception at the Lighthouse on July 7, 6:30-9:30, and the show will  run from July 8, to July 28.
