County Poet Laureate, and the Long Island Poetry Collective are pleased
to lead an evening celebrating the poetry of Pablo Neruda through the
auspices of the Northport Arts Coalition and the Northport Library.
Special guest readers will join organizers of the event which will
explore the personal and political passion of Neruda (b. July 12,
1904), the great 20th century Chilean, whose centennial is being
celebrated world-wide this year. The evening will include a special
focus on Neruda's later work, written in Valparaiso at Isla Negra,
recognizing the fortieth anniversary of the 1964 publication of
Neruda's masterful "Memorial De Isla Negra."
