Both January NAC sponsored events were very well attended despite the discouraging temperatures. Several people expressed amazement at the quality of the music they enjoyed, comparing it to being entertained in NYC but in a much more intimate setting. Thanks goes to our many members who are supporting the arts in their community. Special thanks to Nancy Reycraft who presented the Flutefiesta 2004, and kudos to Sally Shorrock who arranged for the amazing international pianist Maxim Anikushin to delight us with his genius. February 11 - Wednesday - at 7:30pm in the Northport Library, NAC presents: OSQ Jazz Quartet. Chris Forte (Tenor Sax & Flute), Bob Gelabert (Piano), Stephen Bennett (Double Bass and Voice) Mike White (Drums). OSQ will be playing a set of classic and standard jazz tunes. Also, featuring two songs from the "Northport Jazz Kids", a group of young musician playing jazz tunes as two small groups in arrangements organized and directed by Stephen Bennett. February 8 "The Children’s Dance Company will perform at Posey School on Sunday, February 8, at 2 p.m. There is no admission charge, but donations will be requested. Reservations are necessary due to limited space; you may reserve your space by calling 631-757-2700 and leaving your name, phone number, and the number of people who will be attending. The Company is sponsored by Dance Education Services of Long Island and performs historical dances as well as newly choreographed dances. The performers are aged nine through thirteen." February 9 - 10, Monday & Tuesday - Bare Bones Theater Company Spring Semester '04 Classes for Beginners and Experienced Students-Registration will take place at the Posey School of Dance Monday and Tuesday evenings, February 9th and 10th Call 631.757.9616 for details or to schedule an appointment. February 15 - Sunday - Ron Aprea and Angela DeNiro will be performing their "jazz show"@ 7 PM at the Cold Spring Harbor Arts Center. They will be featuring songs from both Angela's CDs, as well as classics by Harold Arlen, Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and Clifford Brown. February 26 - Thursday "Splashes of Hope announces its next Creative Meeting! It will be held on Thursday, , 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in Coindre Hall, 101 Browns Road, Huntington. All are welcome to attend.
